Jar Rules (blame my husband!)

When I opened my new copy of December's Country Home and Interiors magazine I was fascinated by this desk above. I love gift wrapping, as I have mentioned briefly before and will more in the future, and I would love a dedicated gift wrapping area but in the meantime my desk is where it all happens. I would love to say my desk looked like this but I am afraid it is far from it, although I absolutely adore my very big, old, dark wood desk to bits. Anyway back to my point of this post! Organisation I hear you say - shame my thoughts are not so organised!! On the desk I spied, just tucked away, the lid of a colourful jar (enlarged photo below but apologies for quality).

I use Bonne Maman jars, like the ones below, alot to organise and store my button collection as they are not only perfect free storage but look pretty too. Infact I found there is even a Flickr group dedicated to the love of them!

But there seem to be more and more of these Kilner type jars everywhere at the moment. Not just the plain Kilner types but many like the one spied on the desk above with coloured lids. So I was very pleased to see that the link to these jars was included in the description. They are from the new Jamie Oliver Collection and come in many colours and sizes. (Father Christmas are you reading this - hint hint!)

So as I continue organising my desk/office/craft storage this week I am going to try to be imaginative in my jar usage. I hope to show you at the end of the week my completed projects - looking all neat and tidy and ready to belong in the Flickr group Pretty Organized! In the meantime they belong in the 'bombsite' group!

I would love to hear what you store in jars in your home (besides their original purpose of course) or any links you have to fantastic storage ideas. In the meantime, here are a few of my other favourite jar storage pictures and I have added a few more to my Tumblr.

I hope you are all having a good week so far.

PS: Post title was hardest ever to think of infact I gave up and had to go with my husbands awful attempt! hee hee

  1. I love the pictures of these jars. I'm so fascinated by them. I like to see how people use them and use them for decorating. I must add more photos onto my flickr. One day.
I have some large jars that I use for mini note cards for giving to people. And I also use large jars for keeping my pretty butterfly decos. I will take a photo and post it on my blog or tumblr soon!
I love love love that first photo too. I would love to spend more time with gift wrapping if I could.

  3. I have tons of these and they're just stored under my sink for future parties. But I love the hanging from the wall idea.
