Its finally Movie Night!

This little break away from my blog is continuing for many more days than I had anticipated and is beginning to make me anxious about my return! I apologise for my absenteeism from both my own blog and your blog post comments; I am slowly working my way through, but our lack of 'normal routine' continues to steal the hours in my day - in a good way though!

Well I am finally starting to feel on the mend after the whole 'teeth' saga of December and we have been able to reshedule the movie night with my nephews (age 8 and 5) that we had planned for before Christmas. Although we now have an extra little person tagging along too - in the form of one of our little nieces (age 3). We are picking them up after lunch today and taking them 'fish' shopping (our tank is looking rather empty of late) and then we will be settled in for Movie Afternoon/Night with lots of popcorn and sausages and chips for tea and a big sleepover tonight!

Then on Monday we are off on a little holiday; I cannot believe how quickly this has come around! We fly out Monday morning for a little romantic hop over to Jersey (The Channel Islands) for a few days to celebrate my big, scary 30th birthday. Now, to be honest, this next birthday really had me scared when I turned 29 but as it is merely now happening next Wednesday it seems less scarier. And although my life is not exactly how I imagined it would be at this grand old age I am begining to accept that the reasosns for this are totally out of my control at the moment, so there is not alot I can do about it! So big
30 here I come ready or not!

Jersey holds a special place in our hearts, as it was the destination for our first 'real' holiday together. Way back in 2001 we had an amazing few days on the island and we hold very fond memories of our visit. Infact we can hardly believe we have waited this long to return and when a little holiday was discussed for my birthday we both thought of the island. We are staying in a little boutique hotel and spa in the capital St Helier and plan to drive around the island revisiting all the villages and coastlines. I have some amazing coastal photos from our previous visit and I think I could fill our days this time simply snapping away with my little camera. I hope to spend my birthday at the zoo (the older ones amongst us may remember that this is the zoo where the little boy fell in with the gorillas many moons ago!) and then a visit to my all-time favourite beach - St Brelades Bay. We know we are going to have to wrap up warm but I cannot wait to be on this beach again.

(Me on the beach April 2001- sure it won't be this sunny next week!)

So I am afraid my festive break will continue for a little longer, I had hoped to post like crazy between Christmas and New Years but time ran away with me. Hopefully you will all remember me on my return when I am sure you will all be into the full swing of an organised new year. See you all soon and a HUGE Happy New Year!

  1. Have a wonderful holiday and a very happy 30th! I hit that number a few years ago, and it was really fine, don't worry. Your 30s will be fantastic!
Enjoy your break, every lovely second of it.

  2. Happy 30th! Honestly, honestly...I feel like 30's are years filled with fun and wisdom...at least that's what I've seen others gain during their thirties. :) Women sound so much more classic and interesting when they say they're in their "thirties" rather than their "twenties". Twenties are such a rocky time of uncertainty...sometimes I look forward to leaving them behind! :)

And how lucky are you, with your fantastic getaway! Have SO much fun...and please bring us photos! I'll live vicariously through you :)

    Happy New Year!
