Celebrate good times...

Celebrate we did indeed this weekend! It was my husband James' birthday on Friday so he had booked the day off work and we had a lovely long weekend. We kicked it off on Thursday night by going to see Avatar in 3D at the cinema and all I can say is - WOW! It was incredible and I don't care how silly I looked in those thick black rimmed glasses, this is one film not to be missed! Then on Friday we made our way to the coast (about half an hour from home) and wandered around our favourite seaside town. We were planing on having a fish and chip lunch in a favourite seafront restaurant but we found the place closed for renovations! And then of course, everywhere else was busy, so we ended up having a rather sad little lunch. Nevermind we had a lovely lazy day and returned home to have cake with family who came over after school. A rather crazy, chocolate fudge cake fuelled, hour with our nieces and nephews finished off a great day!

Then on Saturday we pottered around at home, catching up with chores, watching our very busy bird table and willing the snow not to arrive (it arrived today instead). In the evening we went out to our absolute favourite local restaurant for a meal. Sunday was spent at my in-laws for a magnificent roast dinner to celebrate not only my husbands birthday but also my sister-in-laws, whose birthday is next Friday. However, she was not able to join us, as she had come down with a sickness bug along with our eldest niece, so that had to stay tucked up at home. But the rest of us enjoyed a wonderful roast beef lunch with all the trimmings, cooked by my fanastic mother-in-law and our entertainment was provided by our eldest nephews!
All in all we had a lovely, long weekend together and feel ready to tackle another week! Food detox is planned after our long weekend indulgences! Hope you all had a great weekend and have a good week ahead of you.

  1. Cassie... I LOVE the jug you've got the daffodils in. It's gorgeous, in such a simple way. And did you make that cake? Yum! I see Cadbury buttons on it, and they look deee-lish!
Glad you had such a good weekend. February is off to a great start!
