A Winters Tale

I have a list of artists and photographers that I really want to share on here but the weeks seem to go by and I have all these posts in my draft column, that just never seem to be published. Last night I came across another to add to the list but decided that I would just post about him straight away instead of just adding it to an already huge pile.

Tony Pick is a local photographer; living and working on the Suffolk coast. He was our wedding photographer and when we met him he instantly put us at ease; which was great when both my husband and I hate having our photo taken. Besides his excellent weddings and portraits he also takes the most spectacular landscape photography. I saw his latest exhibition advertised in our local paper and had a quick look on his website last night.

All the photographs I have featured are from the exhibition 'A Winters Tale' and I feel they truly show the weather in all its harsh reality from this year. On the east coast of England the weather can be quite brutal at times and I feel his series of photographs really emphasise this.

Last night when I looked through the images I also got a fantastic reminder that this time of year can also be beautiful and magical. I have been desperately wishing winter away, pining for Spring but these images lightened my heart a little and served to remind me why I love this part of the world all year round. Tony's images I feel, also highlight the vast skies we are fortunate to have here in Suffolk and the photographs with the breaks in cloud are truly stunning.

So if you have a spare ten minutes today, settle down with a warm drink and please nip over to Tony Pick's website Coastal Images to have a look at his latest collection and some of his other work. Maybe then you might see why I am so in love with where I live and begin to understand why. Looking through these images last night certainly reminded me.

  1. Cass, my lovely! What beautiful photos... I especially like the one with the sun on the snow and the pink houses. Gorgeous!

I looked at the rainbow photo you sent. Love it. Our rainbow looked like that. It's pouring rain here today, but the sun keeps blasting its way through the clouds. I'm certain we'll have another rainbow at some point. I hope so! There's just something so magical about them, isn't there?
