Two things Tuesday

It might only be three o'clock here but my Tuesday has already been a long one. I woke before dawn this morning and was suddenly wide awake at 4am; I am sure I will pay for it later on this week. However, my early start enabled me to enjoy things which I usually miss, like the sunrise at 5am, the early morning radio and a lazy first few hours of the day. After all this I was still in the garden at 7:30 ready to tackle the flower beds and straighten the whole place before our trip.

At around nine o'clock the postman arrived and handed me over a perfect little pile and I took the opportunity to have a coffee and peruse my mail. This leads me nicely into the two things I love around my home today.

Please don't judge me for eating biscuits at 9am, I had eaten my breakfast just after six and with all the digging I needed a little boost! This was the perfect coffee break post to get - a brand new magazine to flick through and a lovely postcard (thank you Erin) to read and giggle at.

The second thing around my home I love today is our garden birds. We have invested a lot of effort into a variety of feeders/seeds/boxes and we are fortunate to have a huge range of birds visit our garden. This year one of our bird boxes is home to a blue tit and all the time I was gardening today I was being watched! It would sit on the tree near the box and sing and if I moved enough distance away it would fly in to check things out. Wish I could get a camera for the inside of that one. We also have the beginnings of a birds nest right above our front door on the beam. A couple of years ago a blackbird nested there - very odd considering we go in and out of it everyday.

Sorry I couldn't catch a photo of my blue tit. Image via Janna on Flickr

Once again this is not my own photo, but when I saw it last week I saved it ready for this post - isn't it just gorgeous. I hate it when my husband has to mow the lawn when it is covered in daisies like this.

Right I am off to tackle the next thing on my to-do list. I am determined to be so tired tonight that I sleep soundly and do not see any hour before at least 6 tomorrow morning.

  4. Hehe I sometimes snack in the morning if I eat breakfast early. How nice that your postman actually hands you the mail! The postmen here are lazy. They won't buzz your house to let you know if you have a package and they leave a pink slip which means you have to go and pick it up yourself!!

Anyway, I'm so sorry again for not being able to do a guest post. My internet is hopeless and I was meant to be at work but got sick instead. Head is full of cotton wool.

I hope you have a fantastic trip! x
