Hello and happy Friday, I hope the sun is shining on you wherever you are in the world. We are having another baking day here in Suffolk, England and the garden is beginning to burst with colour.
Now that I am back from my hols, my attention has well and truly been turned to my garden and my plans for planting season. Whilst driving around the country lanes at this time of year you cannot fail to notice the bursts of colour from the wild flowers interspersed within all the greenery. We are lucky enough to have beautiful red poppies and ox-eye daisies growing naturally amongst the cow parsley on the sides of the lanes around the village. I promise to try and get photos to share with you soon.
I would love to have a wildflower meadow of my own and I am often inspired by images such as this weeks 'Found Flowers'. Unfortunately we don't really have space in our garden, but as we are bordered by fields we are lucky enough to have some wild flowers growing in the ditches and borders. I have taken a picture of the little cluster of ox-eye daisies sitting at the back of our pond, next to the sugar beet field, for 'My Flowers' this week.
The second picture is one of the banks of the pond in our garden. I am hoping to recreate a wildflower meadow idea on this bank and have some seeds on order. My husband has just cleared out the pond to free it of the weeds which seem to take over once the sun shines and today the water is full of life. We have a cluster of frogspawn, several fish and an abundance of dragonflies buzzing around.

Our plans for the weekend are to get outside as much as possible, if we are lucky enough for this weather to continue. I have just made a huge batch of Chocolate and Hazelnut Caramel Bars and hope to enjoy one sat outside with a cool drink, basking in the sunshine a little. What are your plans for the weekend? Please let me know I have missed 'speaking' to you all!

Just about finished a message to you and I hit the wrong button and now it's gone! Grrr...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what was I saying before Google so rudely interrupted me? Oh yes...
I'll bring you some Canadian wildflower seeds this summer, shall I? Our sweet williams are doing marvellously (you send them in my pay it forward package, do you remember?)
I would love to sit in the sun with you and eat those delicious bars you've baked. Yum!
Our plans this weekend include some time in the garden, yet another 5-year-old's birthday party, a family swim and (if the weather is as good as it's supposed to be) I'm planning on breaking out the barbeque Sunday evening and making burgers. With a big potato salad! Bring on the summer-time!
Also hoping for a FB chat with my favourite blogging friend if we can find a time...
xoxo
Same ~ gardening, as mine has reverted back to the wild and the veg beds need attention! I suspect the heat will deter me though! We shall see......
