Tumblr Tuesday

Today we awoke to a thick frost once again here in Suffolk; a not too subtle reminder that we are not yet in Spring. Thinking about the end of Winter got me thinking about celebrations and I thought how fabulous it would be to have a sort of end of season feast. Maybe to celebrate all that was good over the Winter and eat seasonal ingredients before the next ones come around. Looking through my Tumblr archives to choose today's pictures I came across lots of pretty tables and thought they would make a lovely setting for a Winter feast.

First some beautiful inside tables, all featuring bright, light rooms filled with simple tableware and pretty linens.

Myabe if the weather were a little warmer we could fling open the doors and let the Spring sunshine into the house.

Or an evening celebration with twinkling candles and a roaring fire may be a good way to say goodbye to Winter perhaps?

Or maybe if you live somewhere a little warmer your celebration could take place in these pretty outside spaces.

I love the colours, candles and fading light on this one above and think it would be just as beautiful once the sun had finally set. However, a warm Spring day would make the event below the ideal way to say goodbye to Winter, you couldn't fail to feel warm and cheery with those gorgeous flowers and place settings, could you?

Of course if you really want to think of warmer times then why not surround yourself with the beach!

Suggestions on food for this celebration, what says seasonal taste is your favourite? So what do you think, do you like the sound of a big get-together to bid Winter farewell?

  1. I'm in! I'll bring the soups... a spicy parsnip and a butternut squash!

  2. A farewell to winter sounds like a great excuse for a party and a big meal. I agree with Erin - soup would be perfect :)
