I have a little fir tree not a little nut tree and it is lonely and bare! My Mum gave me this little tree last Christmas, she was given it free when she bought her indoor tree. I have repotted it as it was starting to get too big for the tiny one it came in so its pot now is a little too big but I am hoping it will grow into it!
Now as I have this little beautiful thing (well in my mind its beautiful!) I really want to decorate it and photograph its growth each year too.
But I am stumped (sorry) - how do I decorate it? It is a little delicate at the moment, I don't think the branches would hold much weight, but I really want to make it look festive. Any ideas lovely people? I am looking to add some lights to my porch and the box trees but want to make this tiny tree special this year.

(This photo made me realise I need to clean the driveway - apologies!)
Please help me rescue this sad looking lonely tree and make it happy!
you are certainly welcome for the playlist! i'm pretty excited about it, myself! ;)
ReplyDeleteps- i have chosen you as one of the three recipients for my pay it forward giveaway! :) send me an email (beka2004@aol.com) with your full name and address so that i can get you your package in the mail!!!
:)
oh, maybe you could put your tree and pot in a wooden crate and fill the crate with lights or maybe wrap the lights around the crate...
ReplyDeleteit's just an idea. i don't think logically sometimes so i don't know exactly how you'd work it out. haha.
:)
You could make little red birds out of felt (with a very simple pattern) and tie yarn or ribbon to them to hang on the branches of the tree. They should be light enough that the branches can take the weight. Then wrap a natural fabric (I'm picturing the stuff they make potato sacks out of... what's that called?) around the pot and tie it with a red bow (again, with a very simple kind of fabric, nothing too sparkly!) Then white lights on the porch. Voila! Festive, beautiful and simple. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteOh both your ideas are fab! I can imagine I am going to be left with far too many ideas and will have to reserve them for future years!
ReplyDeleteHadn't thought of felt Erin and as you say would be light enough.
Thank you both xx
How cute! I like the idea of wrapping the pot with burlap & ribbon, as someone already mentioned. And hanging white lights above would be so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBurlap! That's the word I was looking for! Thanks, Alli...
ReplyDeleteCassie, I found a great pattern if you want it. I'm going to link to it on my latest blog post about advent calendars. Check it out. The little birds are adorable. And you could keep yours even simpler.
haha, sorry i scared you with your picture on my blog.
ReplyDeletethats so cute! We planted a christmas tree last year at Thomas's parents - I wonder if its grown at all? I love the idea of the bow!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many little paper garlands on etsy. I would say sew up little bits of colorful paper into a garland, with dots or some other shape and drape it around it. Sounds like you have alot of other great ideas here too.
