And so it begins...

Well as we have now reached the middle of January isn't it about time I share my top 'aims/resolutions for two thousand and ten'! How did we get to the middle of the month so quickly people - answers on a postcard please! So I won't bore you with my entire list but I will say that I was pleased, when I came to finish the post this morning, to discover that I have already made good headway with one (that must be a first). I want to focus on the smaller things this year really as I feel they are far more achievable and I love ticking that little box next to an item on my list, don't you!

1) Try to get up at 6am on a Monday. (Now I know some people have to get up earlier than that everyday, so I know I am fortunate!) I became aware, towards the end of last year, that on those days I was up and about earlier I felt so much better about what I had got done that day.

2) Have fresh flowers in the house every week. (The photo above is last weeks bunch and only cost me £2 and they are still sitting on my kitchen table.) Even if this is a small jam jar of flowers it makes a big difference to my mood to see something so pretty everyday.

3) Organisation, organisation will be my yearly theme! (Image via Tumblr) I always feel better when my house, handbag and mind are organised so I have my laptop to tackle this year. Any suggestions on how you store images/inspiration you find on the internet on your own computer would be very much appreciated. I have a huge, ever growing, file that is 'My Pictures' and I cannot cope with this disorganisation. Ideas anyone?

4) Learn Calligraphy. I talked about this lots towards the end of last year to my husband and for Christmas he bought me a whole kit. I now have a couple of books and instructional CD's and a specialised pen and ink - so no excuses! I would love to 'write fancy' on next years seasonal present tags and cards.

5) Cook more varied meals. By next year I want to have a few more 'signatures dishes' and with far more variety. Before I met my husband (son of a pig farmer!) I used to be a vegetarian and so the meat dishes are not my strong point and I tend to stick to chicken, chicken and more chicken. So next year I want more meats to be eaten in this house. Anyone have a sure-fire signature dish winner?

Now that we are well and truly into January I feel I am prepared for this year ahead. I hope that this year is a happy, healthy one for our household and although I know it is a little late to be wishing you all Happy New Year - I hope you all have a fabulous two thousand and ten too.

PS: Is anyone else having problems with layout on Blogger today or is it just my ageing laptop? Apologies if this post looks odd, I am trying to sort it without spending all day on here!

  1. great resolutions. my are quite similar. for images on the computer I put them in separate folders... dining rooms, bedrooms, etc. the only things that are kept on my desktop are images that are inspiring me right now or i am about to use in a post.
