At the weekend I received some super garden catalogues which have really pushed me into thinking even more about Spring in my garden. I am sure I am willing it to arrive so much more than I was last year! Our garden is very much an on-going project as it started life as a plain building plot with nothing but dirt! I have learnt so much over the last few years and have loved and lost plants along the way. This year I am thinking of adding plants that will be 'big' in terms of spread and height and continuing with the traditional English cottage garden theme.
These kinds of catalogues provide such lovely eye-candy and are great for accompanying a morning coffee daydream! I particularly like Crocus as they provide planting schemes as well as planting advice in their catalogue. Unfortunately (but Eco-friendly, I know) they decided to stop producing a paper catalogue last year, I am the kind of girl who likes to physically leaf through a catalogue, but they still have a great website. The catalogues which arrived at the weekend were from Sarah Raven, I have read several of her articles in Country Living over the years but I discovered her books at Christmas when I read her Complete Christmas guide. You can probably guess that I was hooked when I saw the image below!

ooh an english country garden - so lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could garden but so far I can only do succulents and M even killed his cactus - suffocated from dust! :S
you really are craving spring though, huh!
Hope it warms up for you soon :)
Our garden is crammed full of so many lovely things. We have crocus, tulips and daffodils in the spring, along with our bloomy cherry trees. As the year progresses, we have lots of bachelor buttons, zinnias, the hydrangea bushes, buddlea (did I spell that wrong?), shasta daisies, day lilies and the most gorgeous lilac trees. My husband is the one who buys everything and plans where it will go, but I help with the planting and weeding, and love to sit outside on a deck chair and admire the beauty of it all. Scroll back through my blog and you'll see lots of garden photos. I can't help myself from snapping pictures of all the gorgeous flowers!
ReplyDeleteGosh, this is going to be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI adore hydrangeas and budlea and lilac oh and just about all flowers! Sarah Raven is such an inspiration, I just love to visit Perch Hill, it always motivates me!
So glad to meet you, thank you very much for your lovely comment,

So looking forward to spring! I don't garden much, but I do LOVE flowers.
ReplyDeleteOh, Cassie, I'm just going to live through your garden, as my little one bedroom apartment doesn't allow for a garden...and, well, apparently I just kill things. :)
ReplyDeleteSo, I'll delight in whatever you plant...can't wait to see what you choose to grow!
