Aldeburgh Love

So when my husband suggests tea in Aldeburgh, I hardly ever say no (OK never say no!). But can you see why from the photo above - how could anyone resist? Real fish and chips right on the seafront with the freshest, whitest fish you have seen and this weekend it really was perfect batter and the chips were heavenly too!

We took advantage of the beachfront too though and took a long walk along the promenade and then back along the beach. I love that Aldeburgh is still very much about the fishing and as you can see from the pictures below I do love taking snaps of the boats and tackle.

These photo's are deceiving though because the wind was blowing a gale and it bitterly cold walking into it.

So we got our fish and chips and took them in the car right up to the top of the beach and sat and watched the most gorgeous sunset. The perfect end to a Easter bank holiday...

PS: I have put LOADS more pictures on my Flickr stream just click on my little collage on the right if you are interested and I haven't bored you to death already!

  1. fish and chips on the beach sounds perfect. Theres a really nice hotel there isnt there? I think Thomas's Dad treated his Mum to a weekend there a few weeks ago :)

  2. This sounds like such a nice little getaway. You had me at the fish + chips - while we were on vacation recently, that was the only thing I craved!

  5. That looks and sounds so lovely - and it does indeed look really summery in the pictures. I love the photos you took of the boats. Shame about the wind, but fish and chips eaten in the car due to inclement weather conditions sounds like the quintessential English bank holiday activity to me!

  7. mmm, fish and chips. They have lots of good places like that here too since we are on the West Coast on right on the water on the Puget Sound.

I left you a response on my blog about the spring tea. I think that sounds like a fantabulous idea. Let's think some more on it and come up with something okay.

  8. I love fresh fish and chips. They always taste so much better when you are near the water. I usually get my fish grilled though to stay a bit healthier :)

  9. Oh yum! I did make it to Southwold in the end, but didn't get any fish and chips sadly as all the pubs in Southwold and Walberswick were full, but did end up in the National Trust cafe at Dunwich, which was somehow just as British a thing to do on a bank holiday weekend. Probably not as tasty though!
