Floral Friday

Happy Friday to one and all! I feel like I have had a really busy week but I am not so sure I have - just feels like it, very odd! I must be ready for my holiday - wish I could start packing now!! I am also desperate to make a start on the pile of books I have sitting in the spare bedroom but must resist.

For 'my flowers' this week I wanted to share my 'strange' daffodils with you. I discovered these in the garden growing amongst my 'regular' daffodils and they seem to have a double flower. Out of the centre of the usual bloom there is another flower growing! Can anyone explain this to me or have any of you seen this before?

My 'found flowers' are an ode to lilacs this week! I have saved so many pictures of them onto my computer desktop that I just knew I had to share them with you this Friday. When I made my trip up to see my Gran on Wednesday my Mum popped in and she gave me two tiny lilac cuttings, so I may have my own blooms to show off next year.

We have been forecast gorgeous weather for the weekend ahead, so I am hoping to get into the garden some more. Our grass is in dire need of a good cut but our lawnmower is in for a service. So my husband may just have to drive his parents ride-on mower down the village (this is a very funny sight when you can walk at a quicker speed than it goes!) I bought two huge terracotta pots yesterday along with four bags of compost, now lots of repotting is on the agenda. We also have my husbands cousin coming over on Sunday evening for a meal and a catch up before their wedding in a couple of weeks time. What are your plans for the weekend ahead, anyone else looking forward to time spent outside? Wishing you all a lovely couple of days whatever you may be up to.

  1. We've had daffodils like that before. Aren't they pretty? I have no idea if they're some sort of mutant or bred to be like that, but I like them!

And lilacs. Oh how I love lilacs! When I opened the curtains in the boys' room this morning, I could see one of our gorgeous lilac trees (the dark purple one) and the lilacs look like they've doubled overnight. Can't wait to get outside and smell them...

Not much happening around here this weekend... just that massive undertaking of a 10K run!!!

Hope the sun shines on you all the way to Monday.

  3. Those daffodils are lovely! I wish I was better with gardening but I have so many hobbies already.

I should get into the habit of having some pretty fresh flowers. They will certainly brighten up my day :) Hope your weekend is full of joy! x
