Lazy like Sunday morning

This week seems to have disappeared and I had promised myself that I would post everyday - maybe next week... Anyone else find it gets round to Friday again so easily?

This week has been a busy one and my thoughts have been focussed on the meal I cooked last night for friends we had over. I made one of my trusty favourites which I could prepare ahead a little and it is a recipe I know off my heart now- Pork and Apple Encroute with roast potatoes, peas, beans with pinenuts and a tasty little carrot dish.

I stumbled across this delight whilst searching for fish pie recipes earlier this year; Carolyn's carrots is a dish I would love to cook for a Thanksgiving family meal - if only we celebrated it here in England! I can't recommend it highly enough - but I am yet to try it with ice cream!

I spent yesterday morning cooking and the afternoon running around like a mad woman cleaning - I am sometimes too house-proud I fear. However, I love that time just before someone arrives for a meal when it all smells delicious and the house looks all nice and tidy.

(my little hall table - dressed for the evening!)

And for dessert I went chocolate crazy, I made this at 8 am and felt rather sick afterwards... and I did once again after eating it all!

(White chocolate moose with a choc.biscuit base and hazelnut chocolate stars)

So this morning is going to be a 'foodless' lazy Sunday morning, looking forward to tomorrow when I am going shopping with my Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law - credit cards at the ready...

Hope you are all having a fab weekend!

PS: Just had to share this little treasure with you, (apologies for the grainy photo but he was fast moving!) this little fellow seems to be a regular vistor to our garden these days!

  1. I love home cooked meals. It makes me realise how much I need to learn to cook better. The chocolate looks amazing! And it's hard to blog all the time. I have trouble doing it.
What a sweet little photo. How glorious animals and nature is. God is so good!
